North East native Joshua Edward Alexander Larkins, 27, was taken into custody on May 14 following a monthlong investigation into an intentionally set fire involving his neighbors.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on April 16, crews from the North East Fire Company and nearby agencies were called to a home on Bay View Woods Lane to investigate a fire that was reported in the area.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames within minutes, and no injuries were reported; however, it was determined that it was intentionally set, and Larkins reportedly had an argument with his neighbor before the blaze was set.
According to fire officials, the two got into an argument, though Larkins left the area, but continued to harass the neighbor with phone calls and texts.
During the investigation, the Fire Marshal was able to obtain camera footage that depicted Larkins setting separate fires at the front of the residence until it continued to grow before he fled back toward his own home.
At the time of the fire, four people were inside the house.
Larkins was taken into custody on Tuesday morning without incident and charged with:
- Four counts of first-degree attempted murder;
- Four counts of first-degree assault;
- Four founts of second-degree assault;
- Four counts o reckless endangerment;
- First- and second-degree arson;
- First- and second-degree malicious burning.
He is being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center without bond.
